thugs and ignorant TB posters who think free speech only applies to things they (or a current administration, or a majority, or whatever) think is moral and just and pleasing to them.

Of course I wasn't afraid of "Jews and people who didn't look like me".

The guy asking me this question is afraid of people who don't think like him and would trade their 1st amendment rights for govt having the power to suppress unpopular speech or assembly. Imagine the Jews and other minorities should a staunch religious majority get into power and then suppress minority dissent.
