Donald Trump began today like he begins most days: by tweeting toxic dishonest garbage aimed at distracting the public and the media from his failed presidency and treasonous criminal scandals. This morning his latest arbitrary victim just happened to be respected Senator Richard Blumenthal, whose military record Trump dishonesty attacked. But today ended up not being any other day. By the middle of the afternoon it had become clear that Trump wasn’t merely strategically running interference, as he circled back for yet another round of attacks on Blumenthal that were so disturbing as to be almost jarring to read.
At around five in the afternoon, when any stable member of the human race would have been contemplating dinner plans, Donald Trump was instead dreaming up increasingly detestable ways in which he could insult Senator Blumenthal. By the end of it he settled on this as his crescendo: “I think Senator Blumenthal should take a nice long vacation in Vietnam, where he lied about his service, so he can at least say he was there.”
That’s right, the person occupying the office of President of the United States is publicly saying this to a United States Senator. Moreover, Trump is insisting that Blumenthal go hang out in Vietnam, at a time when Trump himself is being exposed for having such traitorous connections to Russia that there’s probably a twenty percent chance he ends up trying to flee there to avoid criminal prosecution.
But based on the rapid and accelerating rate at which Donald Trump is dissolving into full blown psychosis, a prison cell may not be the most suitable place for him. His own demented and unhinged words reveal him to be an immediate danger to himself and others. Trump belongs in a straitjacket inside a rubber room – and that’s where he’s now most likely to end up when it’s all said and done.
