Most of it was so outrageous and obviously not true, that something that is only dumb and wrong will seem reasonable.

It's like a pitcher who hasn't been within one foot of the strike zone for ten pitches throws one that is only two inches outside. Steeee-rike! Says the media.

I've said before that i am trying not to get caught up in the latest sure fire impeachable, treasonous, felonious offense, but i am not sure what he did wrong.
