started really getting into it as an everyday practice the past 5 or 6 months.
I'm not going to tell you how to do it, because I think you kind of have to discover it on your own and find out what works for you.
I will tell you what I do/did. I started out reading this book: Mindfulness for Beginners by Jon Kabat Zinn. It made a lot of sense to me and I use some of his techniques quite a bit. It also helped me see how I can take small bits of time and meditate. I don't need to go sit in a room with incense and totally clear my mind. It's more about allowing yourself to experience what is right in front of you in that very moment.
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle is another book that meant a lot to me. I'll admit, there is some hokie stuff in it and if I had read it a year or so ago, I probably would not have finished. I think you kind of need to be in the right frame of mind to get some of what he talks about.
Other than that, I have a Mindfulness App that I use from time to time for longer sessions, but mostly I just try to take short breaks during my day to check-in with myself.
It's helped tremendously with my anxiety. I haven't had a panic attack in quite a while. I can better tell when things are getting hectic and take steps to prevent issues.
It's almost pretty ****ing awesome during a tattoo session.
