will become virtually impossible for Odom to recruit at a high enough level to compete in future seasons (especially once the East division returns to its normal strength, which is inevitable).
The 2017 schedule is extremely favorable, and we have some good players returning. There are many recruits waiting to see what Odom can do against that schedule before they commit. In my opinion, most of them will want to see an 8-5 record or better. A 7-6 record *might* be enough to sell them, but I doubt it. A record of 6-7 or worse (i.e. another losing season) will not.
EDIT: I think it's fair to expect 9 wins in 2017, as explained in the link below, but I think 8 wins would be enough to reassure most of the recruits we're targeting that Odom is a viable SEC head coach who will be around for awhile.
