legitimate voters or did it suppress illegal votes?

The story had a single anecdote of a man who was unable to vote because his documents did not verify his identity. How many American citizens who are living functional lives are unable to produce a valid ID?

Social security numbers, and cards, have been issued at birth for a long time now, new voters should have no problem providing identity. Anyone who is already an adult has been providing ID for years just to function in society.
