is a two state solution. It wasn't clandestine. It wasn't hacking someone's email. It was completely legitimate and at the time of the grant, the group was doing no campaigning. None of the grant money was used to influence the election and no campaigning was done during the grant period.

Now compare that to hacking and secretly releasing of documents that Russia did. If you can't see the clear difference between the two cases then I don't know what to say for you. Russia meddled and did so in a clandestine manner. The US didn't meddle and was completely transparent about the grant.
