just a poor middle class schmuck but I would be much better off with twice the standard deduction. I would guess that is true of most families.
The problem with the tax code is the deductions. I wish Trump would go all the way and end all deductions. For those who want the rich to pay more that is the best way. You made X last year multiply that by Y% and here is your tax bill. If you want to help out the poor a bit then the taxes don't kick in until you reach a certain level.
The reason the middle class foots most of the tax burden is that they don't have the knowledge to game the system or the resources to pay someone else to do it for them.
