...you seem to forget that "not doing stupid stuff" was a welcome change from the debacles Bush, Cheney and the neo-cons led us into. Two elections for Obama don't lie...
However I do agree that Obama's caution did venture into the realm of passivity, and we have paid a price for it. Putin, Assad and Kim Jong Un don't seem to take as seriously as they should, and Obama bears responsibility for that.
That said, Trump has the baton now and it's essential that we have some overarching strategy and policy that weaves everything together and lets the world know where we stand, what we will and won't tolerate, etc.
Trump saying that the absence of a strategy is all part of some grand plan to keep people guessing is complete and utter b******t and you know it. He's not well informed about such matters and he doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry to educate himself. He doesn't know WTF to do or think. It's all moment to moment - he's making it up as he goes along.
I hope that changes, but I'm not betting on it. I'm just thankful that he has some good advisers and appears to be listening to them.
P.S. Obama is not a Marxist. Your histrionics often undermine points that are otherwise legitimate or worth considering. If you check in the tiara you might be taken more seriously.
