my answers did not seem to satisfy you.
I mentioned the vacuum that would be created, i mentioned the commerce and trade that would be adversely affected. Sorry i am not capable of saying precisely what the economic impact would be.
The world happens to be very interrelated. What happens here, affects people there, and vice versa.
It is my opinion that without american forces on the korean penninsula, the north would have attacked the south by now. Perhaps with nukes. You seem to suggest that an attack with north korean nukes could be ignored and we could continue having insipid conversations on a message board as there would be no consequences to the US.
America is the greatest force for good on the planet. The greatest force that has ever been. We have a moral obligation to try to keep things stable and peaceful. First for our own interests and secondarily for the good of other people on the planet You either ignore or dismiss this.
A major conflict on the korean penninsula would imo, inevitably draw japan, china and probably russia into the fray. And those nations aligned against russia would likely join as well. Think, World War One.
At that point we would have to enter the conflict as well, costing much more in terms of both dollars and deaths than we are spending now.
And if the conflict should remain contained, the impact on trade and commerce would be significant. Would we, should we send supplies to south korea if they are attacked, and we are spectators? Could we trade with south korea if they are overrun by the haircut and his band of idiots? And when china enters, my guess is that they grow stronger both militarily and economically with their manufactured islands in the ocean.
You were against us helping iran get nukes not because they will use them next week, but maybe in twenty years. Why no concern for the potential armmegedon with china in twenty years if we allow the seeds to be planted today?
I do not suggest that we intervene in every or even many of the conflicts around the globe. But if we do nothing, no one will.
We cannot lead from behind. We must show the rest of the world what we stand for and what we stand against. It is in our best interest.
And for you georgia, if i missed it or forgot it, let me know... but you have said we should not be there. Fine. I don't recall you articulating your rationale, other than to say we should have left thirty years ago.
I have tried now three time to explain my position. Please do the same.
