income.. His dad can probably afford to buy or lease him a really nice ride while he is in college, and also provide him with a nice allowance without breaking any NCAA rules.

The only rush to the NBA would be as a competitor, and wanting to play against the best. He is not really going to be able to buy his parents anything that they really cant afford on their own.
