They keep pretending that they are vital, and provide a valuable service to America.
the reality, is they are nothing but progressive democratic propagandists, and the public know it. Even while the media tries to pretend otherwise.
They no longer control the entire message, and the internet has allowed other voices to be heard. Hence, the progressive media shrieks of FAKE news!
Like any failing business, they hate the faster smarter more nimble competition.
