EVERYTHING the government says is a lie. But the government has forfeited it's right to be automatically and reflexively believed. I think they can be trusted to accurately tell the date and time. And perhaps the score of the Cubs' game.
The point about the honesty of the government is that they cannot be trusted. That's very different than saying is that each and every time they speak it's a lie. Do better, you embarrass yourself.
