I don't know about rask, but hokie clearly misused the term. It's very seldom that a poster on this board demonstrates that he/she has any clue what socialism is. That goes double for social democracy. Most often, the term "socialism" or "socialist" is used as an attempt by the poster to belittle someone. Almost most often, its misuse normally backfires and instead indicates the ignorance of the poster.
Yes, I know that East Germany called itself the "German Democratic Republic". It was actually neither Democratic, nor a republic. So one that claims to be learned in the ways of social democracy would necessarily not claim that social democracy has anything to do with North Korea, Venezuela, the USSR, etc. There is no link.
