We have President Lyndon B. Johnson to thank for his great society. This has led to the transfer of approximately $19 trillion from one segment of the US population to another. In 1964, poverty comprised approximately 13% of the population. Today, poverty still resides at approximately 13% of the population. Some $15 trillion of the total has been transferred since William Clinton was President. Strange how welfare never solves the problem of poverty. That's not why Lyndon Jonson initiated this scheme. It was done to secure the votes of a dependent class of Americans. How very very sad!
