...I respect the energy he's giving to the health care bill.
I think his lack of political experience (and that of his inner circle) is hurting him though.
- I wouldn't have made health care the first battle. I would have gone with something with greater bipartisan appeal, like an infrastructure bill.
- I would have recommended that he come up with three main talking points and formed a sales effort around it. A basic and fundamental message he and his team could repeat over and over. It could have been 3 innovations found in the new bill, 3 weaknesses it will eliminate, or some combination of those things. Predicting grave consequences for members of Congress - by itself - isn't good enough. Create a demand among your base as well. Although many of them will be hurt by the current version, they'll likely support him regardless...
- I also appreciate his restraint in the wake of yesterday's attack in London.
Might he be learning and adapting?
If so, will he learn enough, soon enough?
I hope so. However it may all be moot if the whole Russian thing takes an ugly turn.
