Don't get me wrong, I'm a defensive guy. It's what i was best at. I like defense because it's not all about ability, it's about desire and intelligence.
But, you have to be able to generate offense when talent isn't doing it alone and Martin does not do that.
As I have said from the beginning....use whatever phrase you want...average, middle of the road, etc...this is a decent hire but not a great one.
I give it a C+ with the direct acknowledgement that C students sometimes become CEO's. If he pulls off the Porter thing, I'll give it a B- or B. If he hires a legit tactician to back him up, I'll give it a B+.
The facts still remain. His NCAA appearance record is not good and this is his biggest "rebuild" yet. There was a lot of talent at Cal this year to go to the NIT and lose the first game.
