College basketball has had a number of teams that have been loaded with freshman talent that have not won national championships or made it to the final four. Some times things just happen. See the current ESPN article on this year's Duke team. Look at its returning and where the Duke frosh were ranked in the 2016 HS class. In the other hand 2017/18 might be a magical season for Mizzou.
