Mizzou has a fixation on "true sons", probably more so than any other school in the nation.
My understanding is that when Greg Marshall turned down Alden, the latter was "instructed" to offer the job to KA. The instructions came from the upper administrative levels of the University.
The combination of Woody and KA not working out will hopefully silence the all we need is a "true son" to coach the Tigers.
I suspect the "true son" mind set played some role in Odom's hiring, but Rhoades did believe he was the best long term choice.
