so Scotland has always wanted independence from Britain but

Wants to remain in the European Union? Isn't that a bit hypocritical? Brexit occurred to regain a bit of independence and national sovereignty, but Scotland would rather remain in a union of nations who have even less in common with the Scots than the Brits?

I know Scotland benefitted in EU trade deals more than other British regions, but it still seems anti-Scottish to seek "independence" from Great Britain in favor of dependence upon a much larger League of Nations.
