I can tell you this, as much as it pains me to say, the Big South is usually near the bottom of D one conferences. The MVC is usually one of the best. It's a move up. Marshall probably could have had a really difficult power conference job, but he took one at one of the better mid majors. Most coaches go for the money of the power conference job. In the long run, it's really paid off for Marshall. He makes big time money at a mid-major and if he wants, he can have almost any job.
