Sure, at SMSU he inherited a program that had played in the postseason 4 of the previous 5 years, but he was able to heroically get them back to NIT glory in year 3.
Sure, he inherited a program at Tennessee that had only been to the NCAA tourney for 6 straight years. And sure he inherited a roster his first year that only had 9 players who would go on to play professionally (so far). But miraculously he was able to turn this ship around and it only took him 3 years to get them back into the NCAA tourney (via the play-in game).
Sure, he inherited a Cal program that had played in the postseason every year for 7 straight years. And sure he may have promptly broken that postseason streak, but in year 2 he led them to a 1st round loss in the NCAA tourney and this year he's back to the NIT.
Sure, in all that time he's never actually recruited a kid out of St Louis, save for a few randoms he got at SMSU.
But all you guys seem to see is him inheriting stable programs and great opportunities and turning them into the occasional NIT appearance and a 4* recruit every few years.
You guys just see this:
But not me, mister. No sir. I have real vision. I can see what this program can become under Cuonzo Martin.
I can see THIS:
WOOHOOO NIT 2021 HERE WE COME BABY!!!!
