The country was mostly WASP during the American Revolution all the way up to the late 19th Century. Then a lot of WHITE Catholic Europeans stepped up their immigration. Starting in the 1920s immigration was limited which allowed assimilation and kept us as mostly one people. Then in 1965 immigration policy changed and just about anyone could get in in any number. Since then we have become increasingly divided. That is "diversity"--division. And you know the saying: United we stand; divided we fall.
