As I was saying..... I help the young people who come to see me to understand their own teachings.

Those young mormon missionary men love to stop by for schooling in the proper understanding of the godhead. They always seem to go away intrigued by the insights they are given. It's like the scales fall from their eyes as they see the truth for the first time.


They deny that He is God (θεὸς), Who is to be worshiped.

Hebrews chapter 1

1:1 Πολυμερῶς καὶ πολυτρόπως πάλαι ὁ θεὸς λαλήσας τοῖς πατράσιν ἐν τοῖς προφήταις

Hebrews 1
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

5 For to which of the angels did He ever say:

“You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You”?
And again:

“I will be to Him a Father,
And He shall be to Me a Son”?
6 But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says:

“Let all the angels of God worship Him.”
7 And of the angels He says:

“Who makes His angels spirits
And His ministers a flame of fire.”
8 But to the Son He says:

“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;
A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”
10 And:

“You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
11 They will perish, but You remain;
And they will all grow old like a garment;
12 Like a cloak You will fold them up,
And they will be changed.
But You are the same,
And Your years will not fail.”
13 But to which of the angels has He ever said:

“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool”?



He participated in the creation of all things. John 1:1-3

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

How then can he be a created being?

Put all created things in one box. Put all non-created things in another. See which created being participated in creating himself. It doesn't work. If He was created, He did not participate in the creation of all things. That which is created is passive at it's creation, and it is the work of another being.

They don't know Greek like they think they do, (proper nouns do NOT need a definite article to accompany them in Greek, as they are definite by nature/definition - see John 1:1 in the Greek. θεὸς does not need a definite article to be "the God". God is the subject of the sentence, and God is a proper noun).

And, they deny the plain text of the book of mormon, which says the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are 1 God. They reinvent the text by adding two words which are not part of the text, and change its meaning. They add "in purpose". Nope. Either the text is inspired or it isn't. If it is, read it as it stands. If not, then disregard the whole thing. You can't have it both ways.

That's not what the text actually says. Here is what 2 Nephi 31:21 actually says:

21 And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen."

"Blessed is the nation whose Elohim is Jehovah." Psalm 33:12

They teach that Elohim is God the Father, and that Jesus Christ is Jehovah, but not the same God. Psalm 33:12 correctly identifies Elohim as the title of Almighty God, and Jehovah the personal name, emphasizing that they are to be the same person, that we are to claim Jehovah as our Elohim, and we are not to worship false (little g) gods; but, that Jehovah is the God that brings blessing upon a nation.
