Social Security is essentially a creative way to tax poor working people. None of the taxed money goes into an interest bearing fund of any sort. The SS Trust fund is comprised of intragovernmental IOUs.

Social Security is the world's largest ponzi scheme, except that it is worst than a ponzi scheme because its victims know they're a part of one.

There is nothing defensible about it.
