what used to be liberal is now right of center. The Founders and their views would be an example.
Frankly, I don't have a nifty, concise, universally accepted definition and I doubt if anyone else does. As much as I despise contemporary liberalism on almost - but not all - issues, I still hold some liberal views.
As far as gov't is concerned in the left-right debate, the liberals always want gov't to fix real, or perceived, problems and "do" something, usually by spending more money on it. The right is far more likely to realize that effort is hopeless or not feasible, especially given the resources available and also based on clear history.
Other than that modest effort, guess I can't help, but thanks for the comment.
