We got after them b/c it is hard.
Answer is easy. When everyone pays, everyone pays less. I pay auto insurance for 15 yrs and never once have an accident or need the insurance. Many who do have accidents use the coverage that I - accident-free driver paid for. But we agree, that is a pretty good system. If you need it, it is there. If you don't good for you, no accidents, no costs beyond INSURING you were covered in case you did have one. SINGLE PAYER - exactly the same.
