The Democrats have used their typical tactic of projection in an attempt to smear President Donald Trump and connect him to the Russian boogeyman they have concocted.
As with most Democrat schemes, there’s a major hitch — despite their feverish attempts to connect Trump to Russia, the trail from the Kremlin leads directly to Democrat lobbyists.

Paul Roderick Gregory, writing in Forbes, laid out some of the extensive connections between Russians and Democrat K Street lobbyists who, as he pointed out, have had their cushy setup threatened by Trump with his promise to “drain the swamp.”
Gregory wrote:
The media’s focus on Trump’s Russian connections ignores the much more extensive and lucrative business relationships of top Democrats with Kremlin-associated oligarchs and companies. Thanks to the Panama Papers, we know that the Podesta Group (founded by John Podesta’s brother, Tony) lobbied for Russia’s largest bank, Sberbank. “Sberbank is the Kremlin, they don’t do anything major without Putin’s go-ahead, and they don’t tell him ‘no’ either,” explained a retired senior U.S. intelligence official. According to a Reuters report, Tony Podesta was “among the high-profile lobbyists registered to represent organizations backing Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich.” Among these was the European Center, which paid Podesta $900,000 for his lobbying.
The Podesta connection doesn’t end there, and it leads next to the Uranium One deal that ceded 20 percent of U.S. uranium over to the Russians. Guess who represented the company acquired by Russia, Uranium One?
Why, none other than the Podesta group.

The deal to hand over 20 percent of U.S. uranium control required the State Department, under the “leadership” of Hillary Clinton in the Obama administration, to sign off on the deal and that’s what they did.
Chairman of Uranium One, Frank Giustra, unsurprisingly, made big contributions to the Clinton Foundation and former President Bill Clinton was paid $500,000 for one speech to a Russian investment bank with “links to the Kremlin that was promoting Uranium One stock,” The New York Times reported.
In other unsurprising news, Giustra doesn’t show up in the emails Clinton claimed were “non-private” which is yet another example of why the private servers were set up in the first place and why so many emails were bleached away.
Gregory continued:
Let’s not leave out fugitive Ukrainian oligarch, Dymtro Firtash. He is represented by Democratic heavyweight lawyer, Lanny Davis, who accused Trump of “inviting Putin to commit espionage” (Trump’s quip: If Putin has Hillary’s emails, release them) but denies all wrongdoing by Hillary.
That’s still not all: Rep. John Conyers (D., Mich.) read Kremlin propaganda into the Congressional Record, referring to Ukrainian militia as “repulsive Neo Nazis” in denying Ukrainian forces ManPad weapons. Conyers floor speech was surely a notable success of some Kremlin lobbyist.

He went on to  discuss the lobbying efforts by Sens. John Breaux (D-LA) and Trent Lott (R-MS) for Gazprombank GPB, a subsidiary of the third largest Russian bank, Gazprombank, where they reportedly  represent  the bank on “banking laws and regulations, including applicable sanctions.”
As Gregory noted, this client of Breaux-Lott has a spot on the “Treasury Department list of Russian firms prohibited from debt financing with U.S. banks.”
So as Michael Flynn was smeared for the topic of sanctions coming up in a conversation with the Russian ambassador — which will be very interesting to find out the who, why and how that conversation was obtained from a private citizen and then leaked — but lobbyists can get as cozy as they want with Russia and that’s perfectly fine.
If this doesn’t show, once and for all, that none of this is about Russia and is nothing more than a ruse to undermine the Trump presidency by the left, I’m not sure what will.
