What seems to have happened was that there was enough dialogue or contacts b/t Trump surrogates and Russians to alert our intel, community who then (it appears) sought FISA warrants for surveillance. It did NOT come out of the blue. The president does not have that power. And to get a warrant for surveillance of the level that Trump implies requires scads of lawyers and a significant paper trail.
Thus IF our intel sought to put surveillance on Trump's people - they invited such with their actions. THAT is what might bury these guys. Perhaps it is likely, they WERE acting as foreign agents. That is what gets our people involved.
