Not paying rent isn't a criminal offense

It's a civil offense and will not show up in a background check.

At the time she was hired the items that would have shown up are the 3 bad check charges the traffic tickets. A criminal background check only looks for criminal offenses.

If she were under consideration for a position that had any fiscal responsibilities the hire would be denied. If she had applied for a position at University Hospital/MU Health Care the hire would have been denied.

I can almost guarantee the conversation with campus HR went along these lines

Total Person Program - We'd like to hire Yolanda Kumar, here's her information for the background check.

Campus HR - Uh, you sure you want to hire this person? Think about it and let us know.

Total Person Program - Yes, we want to hire this person

Campus HR - Are you really, really sure you want to hire this person?

TPP - Yes

Campus HR - Really?

TPP - YES

Campus HR - **** it

ONCE AGAIN - Campus HR didn't **** this up, someone pushing diversity and inclusion didn't **** this up - someone in the Total Person Program demanded to hire her. If you're looking to blame someone put the blame there.
