I have no insider knowledge, just my best guess:

She helped athletes above and beyond what's appropriate for a tutor. But she was not directed to do this, and was directed and trained to the contrary. She did it AGAINST the directives of the AD for the sole purpose(s) of garnering popularity with student athletes. She gets canned, and then tries (poorly) to use her uncondoned actions as leverage.

Pretty sad that she was hired as a tutor to begin with.
