Man, thank goodness every country in the world was poorly armed, else the Romans might have swept in an conqueredd, raped and pillaged everyone.

"having a strong military makes you vulnerable" may be the dumbest thing you've ever uttered.
It might make you a target, it might make other nations leery, it may do a lot of things, but making you vulnerable is about the last thing it does, other than maybe vulnerable to having leaders misuse it.
