That seems a pretty loose reading of the word "holy book" devised perhaps to address a western perspective. The term - if you read it means "three baskets", the third of which are those thoughts of the Buddha on "mind and matter". Does the relationship of 'mind and matter' reflect to you religious concerns."
I think Buddha began as a Hindu - though I am not sure on that. He - Siddhartha Gautama tried every which way to rise above suffering and eventually finding what he called the middle path. And he never swore that his way was the right way.
