prisons full so they can build new prisons. Private prisons want the war on drugs to continue and resist any effort to reform the criminal justice system.
You cannot have a for-profit business in/controlling the prison industry, much like education. The bottom line does not care about people or what's the best for them.
Conservatives love monopolies, why are so against them if the government is in charge of them?
