Seems to come down to two big schools of thought.

1. OMG! There are changes taking place that we may have a hand in, and we should make every effort to slow the change or we might lose the polar bears, fish, etc. That is the worst thing ever, and if we need to endure economic pain in order to avoid or slow the climate change then we need to.

2. Meh, never seen a polar bear and wouldn't miss them. Certainly not worth losing jobs over now since we really don't know what our role is relative to overall natural climate change, and if any efforts would be effective anyway.

Both of these viewpoints have merit.

There is the "there is no climate change, it's a hoax" viewpoint. Those folks are just not dealing with reality.
