I'm sure you'll see anyone with political ties is automatically establishment and that is not true.
On top of that, the point of hiring some establishment members is a long standing military tactic. You keep your enemies close so you can not only monitor them but you keep them busy so they cannot conspire against you together. Divide and conquer.
