Obama's self-proclaimed mission was hope and change, racial harmony, etc.
I couldn't care less how you wish to view history, "my man", but it's indisputable that America is a vastly more divided citizenry along racial, sexual, orientation, et. al. lines now than 8 years ago and it got progressively worse over that period.
Call it coincidence if it makes you feel better.
Obama was incredibly divisive and the Democratic party lost a multitude of elections under his leadership running on identity politics, the politics of essentially calling white people -ists and =phobes and taking otherwise benign events and injecting them with identity overtones.
It's still going on now, the camps have now been established. Entire organizations are now in place whose sole purpose is to rage about their particular feeling of victimization.
