would be FAR more effective and frightening than nuclear weapons.
If we wanted to completely catch a country by surprise with utter destruction (economic or power grid failure excluded), a Tungsten bombardment would be the most effective way.
But, then again, another country could do the same to us.
A Rod from God scenario is both fascinating and frightening. But at least it wouldn't pollute the Earth and ultimately destroy humanity like a nuclear war.
