Or youth soccer coaches? Statistics show the same portion of the population are pedophiles. It doesn't matter their religion or profession. The percentage of violators is the same across the board.
But the priests just happen to catch more press and the church has had a track record of historically keeping the incidents under wraps....just like school districts will quietly fire a teacher to avoid bad press and the teacher will get another job elsewhere.
