"A Wicked War", on Mexican American war in 1847, which covers the political situation before during and after in the mid 40's. The election, and politics, sound so much like today and the various factions are fascinating to observe in how the country was formed leading up to the Civil War. Slavery of course was a big factor.

Polk, one of the most dishonest and maybe unqualified presidents we've had beat a heavily favored Henry Clay, (far better choice) for interesting reasons, but his nationalism did give us 8 states which we in effect stole from Mexico. Lincoln's early politics and views very interesting as well.

So, for the few who like history, check it out.
