he will ever be an elite coach. Star coaches, like star players, usually have that "it" factor, and I'm not sure he has it. Can he come close to matching Pinkel in terms of win-loss percentage? Maybe. Is he the type who can really propel us to the next level? I kind of doubt it. Even Pinkel couldn't do that, if you consider the next level meaning winning conference championships and contending every once in awhile for a national title.
Mizzou has had a history of hiring good, but not great coaches. The only exception was probably Dan Devine. Otherwise, some of our coaches have been average to better than average while others have been downright awful. If Odom is better than average, I'm sure he'll be here for quite a while. Mizzou is perfectly happy with better than average, while some programs would consider that unacceptable. Such is life as a Mizzou football fan.
