Yes, the Middle East has long been troubled which is reason #1 you don't act unilaterally to destabilize it further and more so to do it on utter manipulation and lies and Bushco did.
Obama had his own issues - but beginning illegal ground wars in a unstable region that would come to haunt the US for DECADES is not one of them.
