In reality we only had one scholarship to give (Justin Safford's) and had a verbal commitment from Keith Dewitt to occupy that spot. That was the status during the early signing period, with Otto Porter still being recruited heavily even though we had no scholarship to offer and he had indicated he wasn't signing until after his high school season anyway. Then the early signing period ended and we couldn't sign anyone.
Then Tony Mitchell never qualified, Ricky Kreklow and Jon Underwood both left the team, and Dewitt re-opened his recruitment and ended up going elsewhere. Suddenly we had a ton of open scholarships, but by the time the next signing period rolled around Mike Anderson was no longer our coach. So we ended up with nobody.
