I cannot fathom how exactly there are not at least double the amount of federal government workers now as there were in 1962.

It seems illogical to me that government has grown, more upon more regulations, since then, and yet, fewer employees.

And then it occurs to me: state governments have practically doubled since then:

So, either 1 of 2 things (or possibly both) is happening: the Feds are making regulations and the state governments are having to hrie more staff to deal with them, or, the federal or the state data is incorrect.
