placate Muslims. Progressives and liberals only care about power. They don't care about the poor, minorities, women, etc. Except to use them in their identity politics for power.
They tolerate Muslims because Muslims have no real political power in the US. There is not enough of them to sway elections or ballot measures. The left can afford to pretend to tolerate them in their game of identity politics.
They hate Christians because Christians have real political power in the US. There are lots of them, they organize, and they vote. The left views Christians as the biggest obstacle to things like gay marriage, abortion, socialism, etc. Therefore Christians have to be attacked, mocked, and marginalized.
