The comment was made when voted against Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act,when he argued that the law was unnecessary because women and LGBTQ individuals do not face serious discrimination, stating that: “today I am not sure women or people with different sexual orientations face that kind of discrimination. I just don’t see it.”
