people, coaches and players, being here before. This is the point of the OP (below about supporting the program and Coach Anderson), and he is spot on with regard to cleaning up the mess. You have to do it with high character people. People have suggested Sampson. Let that sink in. Kelvin Sampson.
There is a total disconnect in the mind of anyone who knows anything about the bad press at Mizzou and Kelvin Sampson's issues. He is a pariah.
Other ne'er do wells have been mentioned as well. When are they going to realize how much bad characters have cost us by going after the quick fix?
I hate these results. Look, heart surgery is messy, and it doesn't heal right away, but it has to be done. At some point you have to have some (blind if you need to label it as such) faith that once the purge is done, it will get better. That's why you cut out the diseased portion of the body. To keep it from taking down the entire body. Don't blame the surgeon for cutting deep. It had to be done.
So then the question becomes, how long do you give him? This is brutal. There is no denying that. He should have at least to the end of the season. There is a case to be made for next year, but I understand the objections. How we can go from overtime with Xavier to losing Saturday is indefensible.
The only thing that I can suggest is that the players spend Christmas vacation practicing on the game floor, and that the coach starts the subs, to send a message, that lack of production gets you the bench. Hopefully Nikko gets completely healed up and it doesn't linger. Though still hobbled, he did make a few nice plays. There needs to be significant improvement in individual games, Phillips, Hughes, VanLeer.
Dependent upon the level of improvement over the course of the rest of the season, give Coach Anderson one more year. However, if they fizzle out, and mail it in, it would be hard to justify bringing him back. But the players also need to understand, they are playing for the long term, not just this season, but for the future of the program at Mizzou as well. They need to maintain their focus and do everything possible this year, for next.
