Why are they so hell bent against Russia

I would rather make allies with Russia now while we have the chance to mend our relationship. There are 2 superpowers over there and we should be friends with at least one.
China is currently our biggest adversary and will continue to be.
I still can't imagine what 1 billion Chinese look like. That's the equivalent of 1,000 cites that each have a population of 1 million people! That is just mind boggling. Then there is India nearby which has about the same amount of people. We are crazily outnumbered about 4 to 1 in each of those countries.
