Just because scientific consensus says something is true does not make it so.

Here is a better example. For many centuries scientist and scholars believed that the Earth was the center of the universe. In JG's world where consensus cannot be questioned we would still cling to that belief despite all evidence to the contrary.

Climate science is in its infancy and to claim anything is settled at this point shows a complete lack of scientific knowledge.

Is the climate changing? Without a doubt.

Does man impact this change? Almost certainly.

Is man the driving force? Who the he11 knows at this point.

Does it require further investigation? Without a doubt.

Should this be a scientific or political question? Should we even have to ask this question.
