were likely involved but no link to the Saudi government.
When 19 of the 21 involved were Saudis anyone with a functional brain knew that Saudi money was behind the attacks. The FBI and Bush administration did not want that link confirmed because the American people would have demanded retribution and as disgusting as the Saudi regime is they also happen to be our only real Muslim ally in the region. The administration was not willing to lose that.
Yes it was a deal with the devil but it did not show any government conspiracy or complacency in the 9-11 attacks.
